What are Spiders: Spiders are part of the arachnid family. No matter the species of spider they all have two separate sections on the body, they all have fangs that they use to kill their prey, and they all have eight legs. Believe it or not spiders are actually beneficial. They help keep small pests away from gardens and homes. House spiders are the most common of them as they are more prevalent. House spiders vary in size, shape, and color.
Are spiders dangerous: There are some pretty serious species of spiders but typically in home the ones we deal with on a daily basis are pretty harmless. Every spider is venomous but they aren’t harmful enough to cause any issues other than some slight irritation if bit.
Why do I have them: Since spiders’ diet mainly consists of smaller insects, they will come into any home or space where they have access to them. Even if they are not inside your home they are around the outside feasting on them. When spiders come inside the home it’s typically through small cracks in the foundation. Spiders are nocturnal insects and they like to nest and hide between the walls.
Where will I find them: Spiders like to live in dark, damp places when creating webs in the home. They create them in basements, attics, and occasionally under your furniture, or in your bed. When creating webs outside of the home. They love anything from foliage to in between rocks and wood piles.
How do I get rid of them: Like any pest they can be difficult to get rid of as they like to create nests anywhere and everywhere in and out of the home. By using Hawx pest control we can create a treatment plan to help eliminate any spiders that may be in or around your home.
How can I prevent Spiders:
- Make sure that the home is free of any cracks or holes in the exterior of the home.
- Eliminate clutter in crawl spaces, basements, attics, and sheds.
- Make sure that doorways and windows are sealed and airtight.
